First communion programme 2004/2005
I am writing to invite you and your child to take part in the programme of preparation for First Holy Communion which will begin after the summer holidays. There will be a meeting for parents and children once a month on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm for 10 months. Always, except for September, when it is 2 weeks later, the Sunday after each session, the 10.30 Mass will have as its theme whatever the children were exploring the week before and the children will take all the lead roles in that Mass. First Reconciliation (First Confession) will be celebrated in March 2005 and First Communions will then be celebrated in May 2005 – a little earlier than this year. We have a very dedicated group of catechists who will take the children for their lessons while I take the parents. All of these catechists are parishioners, like yourselves. Many of them came to the meetings first, as parents, when their own children were preparing for First Communion. The children should be in year 3 at school in September 2004, or older. The first meeting for parents and children will be on Sunday 12th September at 3pm in the Parish Hall. If you and your child are going to be part of this year’s programme please fill in this form now and return it to me before the summer holidays.
