CHILDREN: who are in year 3 or older are invited to join the First Communion Programme which runs from September to May. See details below:
ADULTS: are invited to join the RCIA programme which is a series of meetings every Friday night at 8.00pm for one hour. They run from the end of the September to Easter and the different aspects of our Faith and Catholic Life are explored.
First communion programme 2009/2010
I am writing to invite you and your child to take part in the programme of preparation for First Holy Communion which will begin after the summer holidays.
There will be a meeting for parents and children once a month on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm for 10 months. The week after each session, the Sunday 10.30 Mass will have as its theme whatever the children were exploring the week before and the children will take all the lead roles in that Mass.
First Reconciliation (First Confession) will be celebrated in March 2010 and
First Communions will then be celebrated in May 2010.
We have a very dedicated group of catechists who will take the children for their lessons while I take the parents. All of these catechists are parishioners, like yourselves. Many of them came to the meetings first, as parents, when their own children were preparing for First Communion
The children should be in year 3 at school in September 2009, or older.
The first meeting for parents and children will be on Sunday 13th September 3.00pm in the Parish Hall. Everyone must have enrolled before that time and I am asking people to enrol their children before the summer holidays so that we have some idea of how many children we can expect.
So please fill out the form now and get it back to me before you go on holiday.
I will also need the child’s Baptism certificate if he/she was not baptised in Holy Apostles. But if you haven’t got that at the moment just send me back the completed form. And you can chase up the Baptism cert over the holidays.
