Recently, I attended a day retreat, “Knocking on the Door”, advertised as a Day of Prayer and Creativity with Sr. Sheila Gosney rjm, out in Wapping. I’m no great artist and had never been to Wapping, so a day of spiritual finger-painting sounded interesting and really appealing. Sr. Sheila is a treat not to be missed.     The day moved along swiftly, with two distinct parts: How Has the Truth Come Knocking on Your Door and Transformation: The Gift of Life.

There was a creative period in both sections accompanied with beautiful meditation and prayer. Provided was a variety of artistic mediums for a variety of talent, faith and ages. The numbers (20) were fairly well balanced between the sexes-for Joy! (Too often spiritual/religious events are top heavy with females.) I brought something to share for lunch and a donation for the day. Sr. Sheila was a bit tricky though-in Part One sharing your creative result was optional, in Part Two though, she took no prisoners!

One had to at least share their creation if not give an accompanying short explanation.  I got exactly what I spiritually needed for the next step in my journey, and thoroughly enjoyed myself along the way.
