Day for dads

Dear Dad!

You may have already heard me refer to it, or seen something about it in the newsletter, but I want to invite you personally to the “Day for Dads”.  This is for fathers of children who are still at school or who haven’t even started yet.

It will be held at Allen Hall Seminary 28 Beaufort Street SW3 5AA   on Sunday 28^th February from 9.45am till 4.00pm.  The day will be led by a young dad called David Payne.

David Payne is a former drug addict who returned to the Church after having a powerful conversion experience. Since then he has been working to share the good news of God’s love around the world. For the last twelve years he has been the Director of CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) who produce films for Parishes and Schools helping people to get more out of their faith in a modern and interesting way. He is a well-known conference speaker.  He is married with three young children.

I invite you,  if you decide to take part, to bring mum and the children to the start of the day,  for Mass.  Please arrive for 9.45am. Then we will have family Mass starting promptly at 10am with tea and coffee afterwards for everyone.  The families leave after that.  Then the men get down to the business of the day.  So the shape of the day is this:

9.45am – Arrival

10.00am – Family Mass followed by refreshments for everyone – then family departs.

11.30am – 12.30pm Talk/ group discussion

12.30pm – Lunch

1.30pm – Feedback to the whole group

2.00pm – 3.30pm – Talk/ group discussion/Feedback

3.30pm – Tea/Coffee and departures

We will pay the speaker for the day and we will pay Allen Hall for the use of their facilities and for the lunch and teas and coffees so can I ask those who can afford it to pay £25 per dad to cover these costs.  If that is a hardship for anyone, then don’t let money keep you away.  Please come anyway.

For about 3 years I have wanted to arrange a day like this for the dads in our parish – dads in a couple and single-parent dads.  I hope you will come?  I am sure you will get a lot out of it.  If mum feels left out, please assure her that if this day proves successful we will organize another one later in the year for mums.  If you hope to come, please let me have the form below filled in,  and if you can,  accompany it with a cheque made out to Holy Apostles Church.
